Australian Reseller News

NetStar has been certified as a Cisco Data Centre Unified Computing Partner.

Under the new certification, the IP networking integrator can sell Cisco's Unified Computing Solution (UCS), a datacentre platform designed to accelerate new services delivery and provide provisioning and migration support.

NetStar has been associated with the vendor for 15 years and claims it is one of only three partners in Australia to receive this UCS certifiacation.

NetStar CEO, CHris Meager, said the company has already had a Cisco Advanced Data Centre Networking Infrastructure (DCNI) and Advanced Data Centre Networked Storage (DCNS) certification.

The UCS partnership padded out its new datacentre practice and virtual computing environment (VCE) offerings, which include products from VMware and EMC. "we had observed the changes to happenings in the marketplace, the convergence happening between networking and datacentre," he said. "With datacentre becoming more network centric, we saw virtualisation was becoming an important technology for both categories so we decided to open up a datacentre practice.

"When Cisco came out with the UCS product, it naturally fell right into place and we decided to add it to our portfolio."

The certification process took three months and involved buying additonal equipment and training staff up in certain datacentre capabilities.

NetStar has hired new staff and trained 40 employees across various VCE certifications.

So far, the UCS products ave attracted considerable interest amongst the integrator's customer base.

NetStar is hoping for a multi-million dollar revenue boost within the current financial year.
